Minister for Mines and Energy Inspects EcoVision
Queensland Minister for Mines and Energy The Hon. Geoff Wilson MP travelled to the Ecovillage at Currumbin yesterday to see EcoVision operating in the award winning "Living Laboratory".
Accompanied by delegates from Ergon Energy, the Minister toured the award winning home while Chris Walton of Landmatters showcased the many sustainability principles adopted in the building at large. Chris and his wife Kerry (who live in the house) were able explain how they interact with EcoVision on a day to day basis to check their total new energy and water consumption and monitor their progress against their targets, and have thus far demonstrated the feasibility of being a net energy exporter to the grid. Mr Wilson was impressed with the features of EcoVision, particularly those which will help home owners save on electricity bills in times of increasing electricity prices. He expressed a desire to return soon to the Ecovillage to learn more.
